Wanda Lee Smith, 76, went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2025. She was born on September 20, 1949, in Merrimac, Virginia, to the late James and Hester Jones Smith. Wanda later moved with her family to Pilot, Virginia, where she made her lifelong home.
She was a beautiful, sweet soul who was always soft spoken and kind. She loved Jesus Christ and attended Christian Fellowship Tabernacle for more than 60 years. Her deep faith guided her giving nature; she was always willing to lend a hand, offer comfort, and put the needs of others before her own. She cherished her loved ones and her church family. She devoted her life to caring for her mother and later continued that same care and devotion for her brother Michael until his passing.
She was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Junior Smith, Douglas (Dianne) Smith, Patty (Lester) Buchanan, Vance (Linda) Smith, Michael Smith, Randolph Smith, and Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Roberta Poff of the home, and Regina (Bobby) Kendrick of Pulaski, Virginia. Wanda also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Virginia, with a funeral service to be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel, officiated by Pastor Steve Coffey. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
