Violet Carol Pratt

September 1, 1943 — December 12, 2025

Christiansburg, VA

Violet Pratt was one of a kind. A loving mother and grandmother, she passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 82, leaving behind countless stories - many of them true, some wildly imaginative, and all delivered with complete confidence.

Violet had a remarkable talent for keeping everyone on their toes. She could create an entire saga out of thin air, often starring unsuspecting family members, and somehow made each of them the "problem" in the story.

If you were lucky enough to be one of her targets, it meant you were loved - even if she gave you a hard time about it.

She adored her late husband, Clinton, and spoke of him often. Their love remained central to her life, and in her mind.
When Violet was in a good mood, she was very good.

She cracked jokes, teased relentlessly, and could keep a room laughing without even trying. Her humor was sharp, unexpected, and often perfectly timed. Laughter followed her wherever she went - sometimes out of confusion, sometimes pure joy.

Violet also lived with mental health challenges later in her life that shaped parts of her journey. While those struggles were difficult, she faced them with grit, persistence, and an unmistakable will to keep going. She fought hard until the very end, never losing her spark or her stubborn determination.

An avid reader, Violet loved getting lost in books - though occasionally she would improve the plot, rewrite the ending, or insist she personally knew the characters.

She is reunited now with her beloved husband and leaves behind family members who will forever cherish her stories, her humor, her complicated love, and the laughter she brought into their lives.

Violet is preceded in death by her aforementioned husband, Fred Clinton Pratt; and siblings, Sue Ellen Bryant, Victor Gary Nunley, Russell Hamilton Nunley, and Nancy Gail Nunley. She is survived by her daughter, Michele Norine Warf, and husband, Jeff; son, Fred Clinton (Clint) Pratt II and wife, Evelyn; granddaughter, Brittany Stassin and husband, Tyler; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry Nunley and wife Diane,  Ernest Nunley and wife, Sandra, and Danny Nunley and wife, Elva; sister and brother-in-law,  Betty Perry and husband, Buck;  special cousin, Lois Underwood; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday December 16 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
