Verna Lynch, 84, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Freeman Cox & Lala Dovie Simmons Cox; brother Thurman Cox; sister Eleanor Alderman; sons-in-law Harvey Ray Armstrong and Michael Merritt.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years John William Lynch; daughters Judith Armstrong, Brenda Merritt, and Bonita Dudley; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews Sonny (Linda) Alderman, Tommy (Sally) Alderman, Anna Zurlo & husband; beloved caregivers Whitney Smith, Pat Lovern, Jenny Branscom, Sylvia Slaughter, Missy Yates; as well as many other beloved neighbors and friends.
Verna was a member of Park United Methodist Church and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2012, from 12-1 pm at Horne Funeral Home, with the funeral service to commence at 1 pm in the Chapel. Pastor Charles DeHart will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
