Velma Wirt Walton

Velma Wirt Walton, 98, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.H. “Buddy” Walton, Jr; and her parents, Rueben Wirt and Evelyn Pannell Wirt.

Velma is survived by her children, Bob Walton and wife - Emilie, Karen Cunningham and husband – Buddy; four grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Martha Walton; as well as many other friends and family.

Velma was a long-time member of Cambria Baptist Church. She loved her church and its people and Cambria loved her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug 2 at 11 a.m. at Cambria Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Crowgey officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
