Tommy Ray Branagan Sr., 73, of Christiansburg VA, passed away on March 15th 2024 at Heritage Hall Rehabilitation Center. He was born on August 26th 1950, oldest son to Ruby Paulene Saunders and James Curtis Branagan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Diane Branagan; his daughter, Paulene Louise Roark; grandson, Carson Hunter Roark; and sisters, Gloria Darlene Poff and Patsy Gene Garland.
He is survived by his daughter, Martha Nicole Toler and husband, Timothy James Toler; his son, Tommy Ray Branagan Jr.; his 7 grandchildren, Christopher Neil Williams, Catherine Marie Williams, Kristen Michelle Roark, Alexus Marie Toler, Makayla Nichole Toler, Tyler James Toler and sister Donna Kay Nunley; and brother, Michael Glenn Branagan.
Tommy was born and raised in Roanoke VA. He then moved to Northern VA. where he met and married the love of his life Debra Branagan. They were married for 35 years. Tommy had 3 children and older daughter from a previous marriage and a son and daughter with Debra. Tommy was a maintenance supervisor for 20+ years and also earned a degree from VA Tech for heating and air.
Tommy had a deep love for paintball, he traveled around the U.S. and Canada playing it. He also loved camping trips in the summers, fishing and hunting with his children and family. Tommy loved working with his hands and was very self-sufficient, he never asked for help. He was a wonderful leader and someone that everyone looked up to. Tommy moved his family to Christiansburg where he finished out his life. The family would like to thank Heritage Hall and Lewis-Gale Hospital. Please donate plants in remembrance of Tommy.
