Sandra Lee 'Sandy' Hinkey Rogers

Sandra Lee Hinkey Rogers “Sandy”, of Christiansburg went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 8, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. She was 78.

Sandy was born on September 14, 1941 in Binghamton, NY. She was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Hinkey; mother and stepfather, Annie “Thelma” and Bob Kuehl; and brother, Jimmy Hinkey.

Sandy is survived by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband of 55 years, Francis “Frank” Rogers; four sons, Patrick Rogers, Timothy Rogers and wife, Chini, Shawn Rogers and wife, Sara, and Edward Rogers and wife, Carla; 16 grandchildren, Timothy F. Rogers, Kristin Wright and husband, Roger, Carrie Rogers, Tayler McCoy, Rhina Moran-Ayala, Sydney Rogers and fiancé, Troy Fogle, Zach McCoy, Matthew Young, Helen Ayala, Tony Vazquez-Ayala, Harley Janney, Ryan Vazquez-Ayala, Emily Young, Jason Vazquez-Ayala, Blaine Rogers and Kayson Rogers; and 3 great-grandchildren, Roger Wright IV, Christopher Rogers, and Seilah Wright.

She is also survived by her half-sister, Nancy Jahelka and husband Paul; stepbrothers, Alan Kuehl and wife, Elaine and Gary Kuehl; stepsisters, Connie Whitney, Beverly Bolin and Sally Tomanek; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hinkey, Shirley Dennison and husband, Joe and Kathy Ekstrand; brother-in-law Tom Rogers; and multiple nieces and nephews.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, from 6-8pm at Gethsemane Baptist Church, in Radford, VA, officiated by Pastor Brent Strouf. A private family burial will take place at Southwest Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA at a later date.
