Robert Thomas Jones, Jr., 76, of Christiansburg, Virginia, left this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He was born on June 10, 1949, in Pearisburg, Virginia and graduated from Christiansburg High School and New River Community College with a degree in Instrumentation. He began working for Kroger when he was 16 years old and ultimately retired from Kroger in Radford as the night manager. He was a member of Round Meadow Country Club where he enjoyed playing golf for years.
Robert was a devoted Christian who cherished his Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. He took solace knowing the Lord was always watching over him and keeping him. Christian values guided his life and molded him into the man everyone loved. He especially loved southern Gospel music, attending many concerts and acquiring a vast collection of gospel CDs and DVDs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Robert T. Jones; sister, Diana Gale Jones and fiancée, Carol Sue Smith. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved sister, Jackie Marrs and husband Doug Marrs; niece, Dottie Martin, and her two sons, Donny Charles (Robin) and Spencer Frazier; along with special family, Melinda Boothe and Christine Martin and all his extended family and friends.
Robert was living at Spring Oak Assisted Living where he was well cared for and loved by the entire staff. He loved to read his Bible, work puzzles, read mystery books (he was always reading at least three books at a time), and watch sports and cartoons on tv. He also enjoyed his massive music collection, including Gospel and music from every genre and generation. His favorite thing of all time was his sister’s macaroni and cheese and looked forward to his own personal dish to take home and eat for days. He was kind, selfless and generous, always sharing his Dr. Pepper, sweets and pizza with his friends and healthcare staff. He put the needs of others above his own. He had a smile for every person he came across and never complained.
We will miss Robert every day where his memory will live on in our hearts. He will be remembered for his Christian living, compassionate nature, giving spirit and loving, sweet personality.
