"Smitty" Melvin Lewis Smith

Melvin Lewis ‘Smitty’ Smith, 65 of Elliston, passed away September 3, 2024. 

Smitty was preceded in death by his father, Fred Lewis Smith. He is survived by his wife, Sallie Smith; children, Josh Smith, Aubrey Wilcher (Matt), Randall Jessee; mother, Pauline Smith; grandchildren, Kennedy Smith, Gabe Smith, Michael Wilcher, Waylon Jessee, Riley Jessee; and special friends, Amber and Brent Cooper. He will also be missed by his siblings, Brenda, Genie, Mona, Nita, Rita, and Daryl; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Smitty retired from Volvo after 30 years. He loved to hunt, fish, and coach rec teams.

The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice Radford, Dr. Buck, and Dr. Vile.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 3-4 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4 p.m. in the Chapel.
