Melvin James Nolen, 82, of Radford and Moore Haven, Florida, passed away
Saturday, November 15, 2014, in Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital.
Mel was a barber in Blacksburg and also worked at Volvo in Dublin. He was a son of the late Floyd & Sallie Pate Nolen; and was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine
Barnett Nolen; brothers, Lewis Nolen, Willard Nolen, Ernest (Pete) Nolen, Bernard
Nolen, and Robert Nolen; and sisters, Essie Mustard, Melva Allen, Sylvia Ricker.
He is survived by his son, Timothy James Nolen and fiancée Kim Truitt; his daughter,
Glenna Jayne Nolen; grandchildren, T.J. Nolen, Jennifer Nolen, Heather Nolen; 5 great-granddaughters; 4 great-grandsons; sister-in-law, Edna Nolen; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Matthew Kirkland officiating. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
