Mary Ellen Wood

Mary Ellen Wood, 80, of Elliston, passed away on January 17, 2026 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem. She was a longtime nurse at Richfield Nursing Home.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Emory Dale Nutter and Virignia Melton; husband, Gene Andy Wood; her daughter, Mary Anissa Odham; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Aurthur Wood, Haden Blankenship, Mattie McGuyer, and Barbara & Hobert Mills.

She is survived by her son, Michael Wood; grandchildren, Michael Wood, Tanner Cherry, Damon Wood, Kevin Wood and Tony Odham; great grandchildren; sisters, Betty Ann, Pat and Barbara; sisters-in-law, Lilly Blankenship and Edna Wood; several nieces and nephews, Regina Martin (Richard), Hobert JR. (Tonya), Lisa Poff (Jeff), Kristen Jones (Kevin), Neil Blankenship (Lou), Luther Blankenship, Nikki Lunn (Murray); and several great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 22 at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev.Simon Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
