Mary Frances Dalton Fowler, 98, of Riner, VA was born to Claude and Ollie Dalton of Ivanhoe, VA on May 8th, 1928. She passed away on August 13, 2026 surrounded by the love and presence of her daughters.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Arnold Nelson Fowler in 2012 and her son, Kenneth Arnold Fowler in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Ollie Dalton, her brothers, William Dalton, Roy Dalton, and Harold Jr. Dalton, and her sisters, Judy Parks and Barbara Crews.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Wadsworth (Lin), Brenda Wojciechowski (Bernie), Joyce Black (Steve), Carol White (Roger), Rebecca Partin, Mary Fowler-Hughes (David) and her daughter-in-law, Suguna Fowler. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Akers, her brothers, Gene Dalton (Mildred), Tommy Dalton (Jeannie), Frankie Dalton (Anita), 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Frances' greatest joy and highest priority in life was to be a loving wife, mother and grandmother and she cherished her role deeply. A devoted farm wife and homemaker, she worked tirelessly, milking cows, tending livestock and cultivating a large garden from which she produced hundreds of jars of canned goods for her family. She found joy in the simple things in life - growing and caring for her flowers, sewing, making crafts, cooking meals for her family, and caring for her grandchildren. Her love for her family was woven into everything she did.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Erin Morris, for the loving care she provided for her at home, and Dianna Bucchi, Crystal Hale and the entire staff at Forever Young in Fairlawn, VA for the compassionate care during the final year of her life.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 18th from 4-6 pm, with a 6 pm service in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Buford Linkous officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 am Wednesday, August 19th at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin, VA.
