ALTIZER, MARY JANE ROOP, 69, a lifelong resident of Montgomery County passed away on March 17, 2011.
She was a graduate of Auburn High School and a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Altizer retired after thirty-four years from Virginia Tech as an administrative assistant.
She is preceded in death by her brothers; Jimmy Roop and Marvin Roop.
She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Kenneth A. Altizer; son, Keith Altizer of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Christina and Fred Saunders of Christiansburg; sisters-in-law; Helen Roop of Riner and Marguerite Mills of Germany. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 19, 2011, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at The Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, Christiansburg, VA, with Dr. Don Makin officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
