With great sadness we announce the passing of Judith Arlene Keiffer, 78. Judith was born to Edith Mae Dalton December 28, 1946 in Montgomery County Virginia. Marrying Sebert Hector Keiffer (d) June 21, 1970. Together they combined families which have grown over the years. Sebert Wayne Keiffer (d). Keith Keiffer (d) (Daria Gordon (d), their children Stephanie Gordon (Jen Chuong), Brian Gordon, and Robin Picavia (Branko) and daughter Gianna. Sandra Evans (Dave) and daughter Gillian Evans (Ahmad) and son Psabida. Cynthia Davis (Don) and son Donald Davis Jr (d) and daughters Adrianne Brown (Jr) son Preston and Brittany Coleman (Kenneth) and children Kollin and Ava Ralls, Anderson, Anastasia, Hallison, and Kennedi Coleman. Januari Keiffer-Rhodes (Edeline) and sons Nicholaus and Austin. Alan Keiffer (Kelly) and daughters Rebecca and Savannah and son Caleb.
Through the years her job titles changed from mom, to cosmetologist (Hair Cuttery), to business owner (I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt), and caregiver. She took classes in floral arrangement and different cooking techniques, honing her gifts of entertaining and skillful meals that were enjoyed by many. She frequently was visiting friends in the hospital, nursing home or in an individual’s house to bring them flowers or a meal with dessert included.
Many years we spent at Lion’s Club events. She became a member in 1970 and a Melvin Jones recipient. She frequently was in charge of the food sales her coleslaw, fresh apple cake, and lemon, orange, and lime pound cakes were the hit of the Bake Sale Table. She also took part in vision screening, collected eye wear, and just helping out wherever needed.
Mom and Dad enjoyed many years of travel all over the world with family and friends. Summers of our youth were spent with just a tent, her heading out west to caravan with Carl and Virginia Walker (d) (Sebert’s Mom). Meeting up with the cousins somewhere in California to spend time on the water. Other summers were spent on Topsail Island in NC where you could find Mom on the beach fishing from sunup to sundown.
Starting life in Virginia and living in Maryland, North Carolina, and back in Virginia to spending her last year in Fredericksburg. There she enjoyed an easier pace with someone else doing the cooking, driving, and entertaining at Jubilation. While she may be gone, she will never be forgotten for her beautiful smile, bright eyes, warm heart, quick wit, and giving spirit. A half an hour after she passed a thunderstorm rolled through and we knew that God was moving furniture because, Judy was coming Home.
