CHRISTIANSBURG

Joseph (Joe) Quesenberry, born September 7, 1951, passed peacefully on January 21, 2026 at 5:25 in the evening. A perfect palindrome for a perfect husband, dad, and papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents Burley and Emma (McPeak) Quesenberry. As well as his wife’s parents Theron and Agnes Phillips. In addition to a special sister-in-law Patsy Phillips and family members Daniel McPeak and Jake Phillips.

Survivors include many family members, friends, and co-workers. He shared a lifetime of love for over fifty years with his wife Peggy. They were blessed with a daughter Emily Kaylor and her husband Joseph (Joey) Kaylor. Their lives were further blessed by their grandchildren Lavannah and Burley. As well as sisters-in-law Nancy Page, and Dolly Conner (Josh & Zac), and special niece, Kristen (Reed) Orange (Brittney Davidson & Mikey Howell.)

Survived by one brother, Steve Quesenberry and his wife Elizabeth. Their two children Jessica Q. Bishop, husband James and daughter, Emma, as well as Tammy Q. Dulaney, husband Timmy. Special niece and nephew Dylan and Taylor Goad.

His strong Christian foundation certainly helped form his belief in helping others, just as his Granny McPeak had demonstrated for him as a young man. He was always ready to lend a helping hand coupled with the life lessons and wisdom passed through previous generations, especially to the young men in his and Peggy’s lives.

Joe had a long career building homes for many in the area and beyond. His masonry and stonework spoke for itself. He also contributed his carpentry and built his career further, by becoming a certified electrician, and plumber. His hands were involved in so many homes of the surrounding SWVA area; riding in a vehicle with him was akin to a guided tour of his life’s work.

As an avid fisherman, Joe fed many through the years with his bounty, often warming hearts with stories of his fishing and hunting escapades. He made sure to teach us about the grampus and how a former teacher once claimed he had fabricated such a creature. He quickly brought one to school for his teacher to see, and secured his A grade. He enjoyed making others laugh, showcasing the most mischievous of grins.

A memorial will be held at Horne Funeral Home In Christiansburg, Va on Saturday, January 31, 2026. Visitation at 1pm with service to follow.
