Joan Ann Bradford Vaughan Walden

Joan Ann Bradford Vaughan Walden, born in Harrisonburg VA in March 1932, passed into heaven on December 4, 2025 at the age of 93. 

She lived most of life in Roanoke, Christiansburg, Marion, Gloucester and Urbanna. She was preceded in death by her parents Claude W & Frances G Bradford. Her husband and father of their children Robert E (Bob) Vaughan Jr passed into heaven in July 1981. Her second husband William (Bill) Walden Jr passed into heaven in August 2015.

Joan is survived by her children: Elaine (Mike) Dove, Riner, VA; Ron Vaughan, Esslingen am Neckar, Germany; Alan (Lisa) Vaughan, Cumming, GA; and Donna (Terry) Pedigo, Mechanicsville, VA; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson with another due in the spring.

Joan was active throughout her life in every neighborhood and community in which lived. She was very active serving her Lord and Savior Jesus in various capacities at Grandin Court Baptist Church, Newington Baptist Church and Zoar Baptist Church. She served as a deaconess, in singles ministry and various roles in WMU. Joan and Bob helped start the Christiansburg Newcomers Club in the early 1970s. She helped her children in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girl Scouts.

The family extends a very special thanks to the wonderful staff at Skyline Nursing & Rehab, Floyd, VA for their care of Mom for the past 8 years. You have been wonderful!
