Jessie Lee Richardson, 80, of Christiansburg passed away on December 13, 2025, at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital. Jessie fought a hard fight to stay with us, but the Lord had different plans for him.
Jessie was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia C. Richardson; brother Clarence E. Richardson, and former wife Shelby J. Richardson.
Jessie is survived by his two sons, William "Bill" Richardson and wife Sharon, David Richardson. Jessie is also survived by two sisters and brothers in law Joyce Shelton and husband Harold, Galey Creasey and husband Russell. Jessie is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
As a young man and young father, Jessie had several jobs. He worked at Radford Arsenal, Marshall Concrete, Montgomery Furniture, Rainbo bread and Moore's potato chip. It was not until he became a store manager working for his brother, Clarence, did he truly find his calling. Jessie had a good feel for business and people. He later bought that same store, Fast Shop Market in Pulaski. He truly enjoyed his career there. As he quit working in the store business he always wanted to fly in an airplane and go to Las Vegas. He was fortunate enough to do that twice. He always enjoyed the concerts, shows and bright lights.
The family would like to thank Christiansburg Rescue Squad for their quick response. We would also like to thank the entire medical staff at Lewis Gale Montgomery's ER department. We also can't say enough about 2nd floor I.C.U. The 2nd floor I.C.U. medical staff made extraordinary efforts, and showed immense compassion throughout the process. The family would also like to thank Carilion Hospice for supporting the family. Lastly, we would like to thank the Sky View Missionary Baptist Church Quilters, in Fancy Gap VA., for providing beautiful quilts to the hospital, which our dad was fortunate enough to receive one.
