IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeanette Marie
Williams
June 7, 1945 – March 24, 2026
Jeanette Marie Cardwell Williams, 80, went home to be with the Lord March 24, 2026 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Iris Cardwell. She is survived by her children: Pamela Childress, Penny Williams (Cindy), and Jimmy Williams (Reese). She was the proud grandmother of three grandchildren: Amanda Vogler (Elliott), Ashton Smith (Brayden), and Logan Williams (Brittany). She also was a blessed great-grandmother of three: Harper and Lorelai Vogler and Ivy Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Herbert Cardwell (Cindy),sister, Sandra Heath, and special friend, Doug Franklin.
Jeanette grew up in the little town of Lawsonville, North Carolina. She loved learning how to cook from her mama and grew up to make some of the most delicious chocolate cakes, fried potatoes, and cornbread this side of the mountains. She married and had her three children at the young age of 18 and moved her family to Christiansburg. She was a stay at home mother who worked to support and care for her family. Once her kids were grown, she worked at the Christiansburg Garment Factory making clothing. When her first grandbaby came along, it wasn’t long until Jeanette quit her job to care for her grandchildren in a home of love and unending care. While caring for her grandchildren, she would also babysit other children, whom she loved like they were her own, and would also work in the school cafeterias so she could be able to get off work early enough to pick up her grandchildren from school. Jeanette’s last few years on this earth were plagued by pain, but she has now received ultimate healing in the Lord’s arms.
The family would like to extend their greatest gratitude for all those who have prayed for Jeanette over the years, who have checked on her when they knew she was suffering, and to the doctors who worked tirelessly to find Jeanette relief from her pain. The family takes comfort in knowing Jeanette is now free of that pain. Jeanette was passionate about her love for the Lord, her family, and butterflies. She never missed one of her grandchildren’s school events, a sports game, or any other special occasion.
She was an avid plant lover and enjoyed tending to her flowers. Jeanette was a faithful prayer warrior. When she told you that she would pray for you, you knew she was praying with all her heart. She would always send out words of encouragement to her family and friends and, when she was unable to attend church, always made sure she heard God’s word via television or preaching she found online. God’s word nourished her soul. She was a faithful member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in Christiansburg for over 30 years and loved her church family fervently.
Family and friends will gather at Horne Funeral Home on March 30th at 11:00 for visitation. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Vest officiating. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
