James Stephen (Steve) Nelson

James Stephen Nelson (Steve), 75 of Riner, passed away June 16, 2023. He was a good granddaddy and a forward thinker and all around smart feller. Steve was an avid golfer, playing 6 days a week.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Daniel Nelson and Nola Faye Nelson. Steve is survived by his wife, Deezie Nelson; son, Jim Nelson and wife Suzanne; grandchildren, Zachary and Miranda; brothers, Gary Nelson and wife Donna, Terry Nelson and wife Sidia; sister, Tammy Nelson and friend Richard; best friend and golfing partner, Mike McMurray as well as lots of golfing friends.
Per Steve’s wishes, there will be no services.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Steve’s name to the Montgomery County Animal Care & Adoption Center, 480 Cinnabar Road, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
