She is now in the presence of our Savior and Lord and reunited with her parents and husband, Don; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and John Richardson; son, Jim; grandson, Alex Altizer; seven brothers, and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memories are son, Richard Altizer (Deneise); daughter-in-law, Martha Altizer; grandchildren, Wesley Altizer (Sasha); Amanda Lovelace (Daniel); great grandchildren, Elias and Elinor Lovelace; sisters, Joyce Moore, and Lola Clower (Harless); a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.
Helen was employed as a floral designer for Angle Florist before opening her own shop, “Helen’s Florist” in Blacksburg. She loved flowers and always graced her dinner table with her arrangement of fresh flowers, or those sent by her son Richard for every special occasion or holiday.
Helen was a “die-hard” Hokie fan and enjoyed attending and watching the games with special friends, Wayne and Dolores Brockenbrough who for many years welcomed her as a guest in their home. Helen was blessed with exceptional daughters-in-law, Martha and Deneise Altizer assisting her sister, Lola serving in many capacities.
Helen was a devoted and faithful member of Christiansburg Church of the Brethren, actively served in the Women’s Fellowship, Choir and Altar Committee. Until her health began to decline.
Visitation will be 12-2 on Friday, January 23 at Christiansburg Church of the Brethren followed by a graveside service at Sunset Cemetery with Pastor Hal Sonafrank officiating. A memorial service will be at a later date.
