Graham Virgil Hall

Christiansburg, VA

Graham Virgil Hall, 82, of Christiansburg went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 11, 2024. He was born in Oreton, VA on April 3, 1941 to the late Emory V. and Vernie G. Hall. He was also preceded in death by a son Dale Ray Hall and brothers, Charles Donald and Bascome Eugene Hall and sister Billie Eileen Coffee.    

Graham is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Fox Hall; daughter, Deanna Hall Linkous  and husband Mark; grandchildren, Danielle P. Hall (Caleb Garman), Stephen Blake Linkous, and Joshua Ryan Linkous (Alexandria McAlevy); brothers, Ronda R. Hall and wife Pamela and Harold R. Hall and wife Annette; many nieces and nephews; many brothers and sisters in law from the Fox side of the family; very special friends Jerry and Pat Ramey; his special furry friend, Precious; his special furry granddog, Tucker; and, a host of other family and friends.    

Graham grew up In Irondale, VA and attended East Stone Gap High School in East Stone Gap VA. He married his sweetheart Carolyn Fox on Dec. 24, 1961 and they moved to Christiansburg VA in 1967. He worked for Kroger Co. as a meat cutter for over 20 yrs. He later became a Food Lion Store Manager and retired with them in 2001. After retiring he continued to stay busy and worked at Walmart, Exide Battery, the Christiansburg Aquatic Center and Food City. They moved to Wise Co. VA in 2014 after the death of their son Dale. He was a member and Elder at First Christian Church, Big Stone Gap, VA, and was currently attending Hope Valley Church in Christiansburg, VA.  

While living in Big Stone Gap, he was always motivated and working and decided to attended Mountain Empire Community College where he graduated in May of 2022 with Honors with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science with a major in Energy Science. He also received a Building Construction with emphasis in Electrical Certificate.  He also received Air Conditioning and Refrigeration certificates. He was awarded the Exceptional Graduate Award on May 13, 2022. He was asked to speak at the graduation ceremony and received a standing ovation.  

They decided to move back to Christiansburg in 2022 to be close with his grandchildren, daughter and son-in-law.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, farming, hunting, fishing and especially gardening.  After moving back to Christiansburg, he decided to plant a large garden that was absolutely beautiful and sold items at a vegetable stand on Chrisman Mill Rd.

He enjoyed meeting everyone and talking to customers that stopped by his stand. He never met a stranger, and loved laughing and talking with friends, family and meeting new people.  He will truly be missed.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 11:00 until 12:30 at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. His wishes were to be cremated and he will be buried in Belmont Cemetery at a later date.
