Gail Tinley Simpkins

Gail T. Simpkins, age 79, of Radford, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2026.  Gail was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Riner Volunteer Fire Department for 44 years and a dedicated member of the Izaak Walton League of America, Claytor Lake Chapter, for 21 years. She dearly loved spending time with the ladies of the Auxiliary and cherished all of her friends at the campground, where she made many wonderful memories.

Gail was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Travis Simpkins.  She is survived by her children: Tammy Winkle (Mike Jones), Scott Simpkins (Angie), and Melissa Simpkins (Brian Broce); her grandchildren: Heather Potter, Justin Winkle, Joshua Simpkins, and Tiffany Simpkins; her great-grandchildren: Marliegh, Austin, Misstey, Kalli, Hunter, Logan, and Charlotte Rose; and her beloved cat, Baby. The family would like to extend special thanks to her loving friends: Lisa, Susan, Terri, Frank, and Betina, for their kindness and support and the medical staff at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 5 p.m. in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary at the Riner Volunteer Fire Department.
