Frances C. Hughes, 80, of Christiansburg, by the grace of God, and with a strong belief in eternal life, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, to be reunited with her loving family.
She was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Merle & Virginia Simmons Chumbley; brothers, Tommy Chumbley, Danny Chumbley, Joe Chumbley; and sister, Ruth C. Duncan.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 46 years, Billy Hughes; brother, John Chumbley (Dixie); sons, Michael C. Hughes (Cookie), David Hughes (Debbie); daughter, Toxie H. McNeil (Mike); 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and other extended family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 17, 2012, from 5-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. There will be a graveside service at 11 am on Friday, May 18, 2012, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Peter Anderson officiating.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Carilion Clinic Hospice, and a very special thank you to Sherry Reed who was with Frances at the end.
