Elizabeth Ann Smith, 84, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of August 31, 2025, surrounded by her family in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born on August 15, 1941, in Merrimack, Virginia, to the late James and Hester Jones Smith. Elizabeth later moved with her family to Pilot, Virginia, where she made her lifelong home and lovingly cared for her parents.
A devoted Christian, Elizabeth was a faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Tabernacle for more than 60 years. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was known for the love and kindness she extended to everyone she met.
She was preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses: Junior Smith, Douglas (Dianne) Smith, Patty (Lester) Buchanan, Vance (Linda) Smith, Michael Smith, and Randolph Smith. She is survived by her sisters, Roberta Poff; Wanda Smith, of the home; and Regina (Bobby) Kendrick of Pulaski, Virginia. Elizabeth also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Elizabeth worked as a seamstress for 30 years at the Kenrose Manufacturing Company. Following its closure, she continued her love of serving others as a greeter at Walmart for nearly 20 years. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her love of people, and her unwavering faith in the Lord.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg, Virginia with a funeral service to be conducted at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. The Service will be available online Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
