Earl Garven Alderman, 89, of Christiansburg, VA, was welcomed into heaven on Monday April 20, 2026 by his parents Nina Simmons Alderman and Granvel Garven Alderman, his sisters Joyce Runyon and Janice King, granddaughter Bridget Marie Alderman, favorite aunt and uncle, Dale and Maisie Alderman and cousins Linda Muncy and Deborah Mallard, brothers in law, Harold Lovern, Rodney Carper and Carlos Wright.
He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, loyalty and compassion, and built a life of true integrity and care for those around him. He touched countless lives with his warm spirit and steady presence. Always there with a warm smile.
He graduated from Christiansburg High School in 1955, and worked for his uncle Dale until his retirement and took over the business, Alderman Plastering Company, where he plastered homes and churches from Virginia to Russia. After retirement he continued to work as a handyman with Raymond Thornton sharing his skills. He could fix anything, but when all else fails, duct tape, we say with great humor.
He also was a lifetime member of the Christiansburg Hunt Club. Where he enjoyed many hunting trips with his son and numerous friends and family. Friends of which he has carried all his life.
He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis Alderman, daughter Lori Dearing and spouse Rodney, Son Chris Alderman and spouse Joe DeLatte. Grandchildren Carly Villarreal and spouse Gabriel, Josh Alderman and spouse Jess and Corbin Dearing and spouse Skylar. Great grandchildren Axel, Calvin, Celina and Atlas. And in laws, Patsy Barnett, Arlene and Kenneth Srauss, Jean Wright, and Terry Lovern, and numerous nieces and nephews. And his special friend and neighbor, Zane Edwards, who spent many hours talking, reminiscing and sharing music. And former daughter in law and still close to the family.
The family wants to share a special thanks to ACG Hospice. His nurse Jes, and aide Lexus were a godsend to his wife and family. Their loving care showed by true compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
