Douglas Wayne Proffit

Douglas Wayne Proffit, age 81 of Shawsville passed away on October 17, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, John William Proffit and Louise Nolley Proffit; brothers, Philip Elmo Proffit and David Allen Proffit; and grandson, Ethan Jones and special aunt, Edna Looney.
Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Diane Proffit; sons, Wayne and Sharon Proffit, Steven and Vicki Proffit; and daughter, Whitney and Gary Jones; grandchildren, Jessica Elliott, Tyler Proffit, Austen Schiffman, Alex Schiffman,
Jaina Proffit and Maverick Jones; sisters, Linda Proffit Effinger and Randolph, and Jessie Simpkins and Roger; sister-in-law, Sheila Switzer and Jerry Harms and many nieces and nephews.
Douglas worked for Walmart and Virginia Tech Dinning services. He was also known for his Christmas display he put on for the community of Shawsville.
In lieu of flowers the family askes that donations be made to Angels of Assisi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21,2023 from 6-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service to follow at Sunset Cemetery.
