Donna H. Shelburne, 64, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph A. Hillegass; brother, Michael S. Hillegass; and brother-in-law, L.E. Codner. Donna is survived by her husband, Jack Shelburne; her two sons, Matthew T. Shelburne and Stephen A. Shelburne; her mother, Leatrice S. Hillegass; a sister-in-law, Nancy S. Codner. Also many nieces and nephews, including Sarah Vaden Danielson; and other extended family and friends.
Donna was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Arlington, VA. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Donna taught elementary school in Montgomery County for 28 years. She taught special education, third grade, fourth grade, and was a Reading Specialist. She also enjoyed music, singing, and traveling with her family.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. John Croft and Mr. Rudolph Shelburne officiating. Interment will be private at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
