Donald E. Phillips, a beloved member of the Christiansburg community, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on February 25, 1935, in Radford, Virginia, Don lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and warmth that touched everyone he encountered.

For four decades, Don dedicated his career to Lynchburg Foundry, where his strong work ethic earned him the respect and admiration of both his colleagues and the community at large. In addition to his professional endeavors, he was also deeply passionate about farming and took great pride in caring for his cows. This love for the land and its animals exemplified Don's character, showcasing his nurturing and devoted spirit.

Known for his infectious smile and cheerful disposition, Don truly never met a stranger. His kindness radiated through every interaction, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A devout Christian, he made it a priority to attend church whenever he could, reflecting his commitment to his faith and his community.

Don was predeceased by his father Burman Phillips; mother Katherine Roop Phillips; brother David Phillips, wife Eva N. Phillips, and daughter Sharlene Teany.

Don's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many. He is survived by his loving daughter, Karen Hawley (Danny); brother Randy Phillips, and cherished grandchildren, Shawn Hawley (Michelle), Travis Hawley (Megan), and T.J. Teany (Tori). He also adored his great-grandson, Logan Teany, who brought immense joy to his later years. Other surviving family members include son-in-law Rick Teany; brother-in-law Sammy Nunley, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in Don's heart. Additionally, a special friendship with Alice Altizer.

A funeral service honoring Donald E. Phillips will be held on February 9, 2026, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Christiansburg, Virginia. The service will begin at 1:00 PM, and attendees are invited to gather to celebrate Don's life and legacy at 1300 N Franklin Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at NRV Medical Center and Dr. Karo for their exceptional care—your compassion and kindness meant the world to Don and his family. Special thanks are also extended to Pastor Kevin Poston and his church family, whose support over the years has been invaluable.

Donald E. Phillips will be sorely missed but forever remembered for his genuine spirit, unwavering kindness, and the love he shared with all who knew him. May he rest in peace, welcomed into Heaven to reunite with his family once more.
