Clarence Chafin

October 17, 1916 — July 16, 2004

CHAFIN, CLARENCE H., age 87, died Friday, July 16, 2004 at Skyline Nursing Home in Floyd, VA.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Pugh Chafin; parents, Guilford Letcher Chafin and Lillie Epperly Chafin; eight sisters and two brothers. he is survived by several nieces and nephews. Clarence was a WW II veteran and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Destroyer USS Benson. He was a member of the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department, the V.F.W. and McDaniel Lodge No. 86. Clarence was an avid hunter, a master carpenter and gunsmith.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, July 19, in Sunset Cemetery with Rev. Donna Sharp officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Friends and relatives may call at Horne Funeral Home anytime after 1 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24068. The Chafin family is being served by Horne Funeral & Cremation Service.
