Charles Eugene Yopp, born on July 11, 1950, in Montgomery County, Virginia, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Shawsville, Virginia. He will be fondly remembered as an amazing and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

Charles dedicated over 30 years of his life to Leonard Smith Roofing, where he worked diligently as a roofer. His commitment and work ethic were exemplary, reflecting the integrity and perseverance that characterized his life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Charles had a deep passion for outdoor pursuits. He was an avid bear hunter, deer hunter, and coon hunter. Fishing brought him joy, as did the simple, heartfelt pleasure of walking his beloved dog, Carlos.

A devoted family man, Charles is survived by his cherished wife, Frances Raye Yopp; his daughter, Angie Hunter, and son-in-law, Barry Hunter; and his son, Joey Rhodes. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Heather Phoenix, Alaina Phoenix, Chloe Krafft and her husband Keith, Mikayla Queen-Phoenix and Kate Queen, Kobe Phoenix, Jenna Quesenberry and her husband Mitchell, and Jessi Rhodes. Charles also took great pride in his role as a great-grandfather to Lexi Whitman, Sophia Phoenix, Charlie Krafft, and Charlotte Krafft. Each of these family members holds a special place in his heart, and he was a pillar of love and support for all.

Charles’s life was enriched by those who preceded him in death, including his father, Buster Yopp; mother, Katie Yopp; brothers, Billy Yopp and Buck Yopp; sister, Ruby Jones; grandson, Dakotah Booth; and sister and brother-in-law, John and Nell.

The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects during a visitation at Horne Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 1300 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073, on April 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. This will be followed immediately by the funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

Charles Eugene Yopp lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the profound impact he made on all who knew him.
