Catherine Sue Gillenwater

Catherine Sue Gillenwater "Kathy", 64, of Christiansburg passed away July 22, 2025. 

Preceding her in death are her parents Ralph Smith and Gladys Jennelle; her husband Terry Ray Gillenwater; as well as her stepfather, Orville Jennelle and stepbrother, Danny Whiteneck; her family pet (toy poodle) Peppy Jay (5/23/25).  Family who will forever cherish her memory are son, Matthew Gillenwater; daughter-in-law, Candace Gillenwater; grandchildren, Brooklynne, Zachary and Lillian Dowdy; as well as cousins, Tammy Walker and Teresa Sowers.

Kathy attended Pentecostal Holiness Church and ran the Royal Rangers church group for kids. She enjoyed making various arts/crafts. She worked at Family Dollar as a teenager. Worked at Dairy Queen and KFC in her adult years. Kathy enjoyed family trips to the beach and family gatherings. She loved her family more than anything. Kathy had a few friends in her personal life, Swanda, Pattie, Christian, Debbie Harrel. She was extremely excited to meet her new great-granddaughter that is due any day now. She was a fantastic cook who thoroughly enjoyed cooking for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone loved her deviled eggs.

A visitation will be on Monday August 4, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will start at 2:00 in the Funeral Home Chapel.
