Brenda Kay Maszon, 76, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Connell Maynard and Margie Viola (Shatley) Smith, a brother, Ronnie Smith and a grandson, Brandon Lee Linkous.

Born August 19, 1949, she was a coal miner’s daughter, descendant of King Edward I, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a kind soul, and truly remarkable woman, whose life was dedicated to her family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was limitless. Brenda was the type of person whom strangers would feel comfortable approaching and her gentle spirit brought warmth to everyone she knew. Lover of coffee, Chesapeake Bay crabs, and egg drop soup. Her kindness, laughter and love will continue in all of us who were blessed to have known and loved her.

Brenda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Maszon, daughter, Sheri (Charles L.) Linkous, and son, Michael Maszon, grandsons, C.J. (Taylor) Linkous and Ryan Linkous, great-granddaughter Emersyn Linkous, Brothers, Charles (Sandy) Smith and Beeler M. (Pamela) Caldwell, sisters Linda G. Smith and Sue (Larry) Boatmun, and a host of other family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be made to St. Judes.
