Brenda Joyce Haltom, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025, in Christiansburg, Virginia. Born on May 9, 1950, in North Carolina, Brenda lived a life characterized by kindness, compassion, and unwavering strength.
Brenda dedicated 24 years to her career at the National Bank of Blacksburg, a commitment that showcased her work ethic and integrity. After retiring in 2014, she embraced this new chapter of life, where she continued to be a guiding light for her family and community.
Brenda took pride in her education and lifelong learning, attaining a High School diploma and continuing her education for a year of college study. She was an active member of the Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship in Christiansburg, where she faithfully attended services, sharing her faith and love with those around her.
Brenda's life was enriched by her passion for music; she loved to play guitar and sing, often sharing these joyful moments with her sisters. Her warmth and nurturing spirit made her a kind and loving figure to her family, instilling in them values that will carry on through generations.
Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Terry Haltom; her daughter, Kim Venaas, and son-in-law, Christian Venaas; her sisters, Sandy Parsons (married to John), Dana Morris, and Cindy Booe; her brothers, Don Parsons (married to Susan Parsons) and Tim Parsons (married to Teresa Parsons); along with two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin Parsons and Ella Mae Grogan Parsons, and her brother, Tony Parsons.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Heartland Hospice, Nurse Colby, and all of the nurses at Fresenius of Blacksburg for their compassionate care during Brenda's final days.
A memorial service to honor Brenda's life will be held on August 30, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM and concluding at 3:00 PM at the Dwelling Place Christian Fellowship. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
