Arlene Bridget Grout

Arlene Bridget Grout, 86 of Christiansburg, passed on June 18, 2025.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Susan Manee Crinch; father, Michael Joseph Perry; daughter, Donna Hein; son, Roy Hein; grandson, Christopher Hein; and brothers, Joe and Stephen.

Arlene is survived by her children, Meladie Daigneault (Normand) of VA, Paula Sulloway; grandchildren, Normand Jr. (Ashley), Heidi, Joshua, Timothy, Joseph, Katie (Michael Jr.), Jessica, Justin, Susan, Robyn; great-grandchildren, Brianna, Damien, MaKenzy, Graysen, Westin, Bennet, Bryson, Madison, Joseph Jr., Christopher, Justin Jr., Bella.  She will also be missed by her sisters, Carol Graves, whom she loved dearly, of New Hampshire, Suzanne and Janice both of Massachusetts; brother, Allen of Massachusetts; as well as many nieces and nephews, and many close friends she loved dearly.

Arlene worked at the textile mills of Lowell, Massachusetts for most of her life.  Then moved to Virginia where she continued working at Ames Textile of Christiansburg.  Arlene loved to gamble - she made many trips to Las Vegas and Rosies of Vinton.  She loved some Neil Diamond, her gameshows and criminal dramas (CSI).  She was an absolute fan of Mickey and Minnie Mouse.  Arlene would face time with her sister Carol every day and played scrabble with her.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 27, 2025, from 12-1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home.  Memorial Services will follow at 1 p.m. in the Chapel.

We want to thank Gentiva Hospice for caring for Arlene in her last months of life.  Each and everyone of you did a wonderful job, with a special thank you to Vicki Sheppard.
