Alvin Lee Hale, 91, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2026. He was born on September 1, 1934 in Floyd, VA to the late Irvin and Vallie Hale.

He was a hardworking man who made a career in police work. He served 32 years on the Christiansburg Police Department, retiring there as Chief of Police in 1990. After retirement he worked part time for the Mongomery County VA Sheriff’s Department until 2009.

Alvin was very principled, fair, and had a huge heart. He was always ready to help anyone in need, especially his family.

Alvin was also very active in the Lions Club in Christiansburg. When he was not working, he was always tinkering with something or taking care of his lawn. He was from the generation where you did not go out and buy something, you fixed what was broken. Alvin’s wife, Nancy, preceded him in death. They were both active members of Christiansburg Church of Christ. He is also preceded in death by his infant son, Jerry Wayne Hale, and brother in law Guy Ellett.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Hale, Donna Marshall (Randy), Cindy Faulconer (Don), and Darrell Hale (Cindy); grandchildren, Adam Collins (Katie), Matthew Collins (Kathy), Stacey Pizzino (Jason), Alyssa Berryman (Monty) Jack Faulconer (Jessica), Sam Faulconer, Charlie Faulconer, Ethan Hale and Jacob Hale; 12 great grandchildren; and sisters, Gerlene Conner (Macle) and Juanita Ellett.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 18 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
