WILLIAM THOMAS STEVENS, JR., 84, of Elliston, VA, passed away on June 21, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas & Brooke Merritt Stevens; a brother, Richard Stevens; and sisters, Mary Virginia Horton (Ginny), Linda Agnus Bourne, Rose Ellen Kidd, Gracie Lee Thomas, and Edith Terry; and 1 stepson, George Edward Hanauer.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Worrell Stevens; stepsons, James Hanauer & wife, Tina of OK, and Don Hanauer & wife, Marcelle of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Angie Gist & husband Matt of Cary, NC, Donald Hanauer, II of Christiansburg, James Hanauer & wife Allison of Collierville, TN, Tim Hanauer & wife Juliet of Fort Collins, CO, Matt Hanauer & wife Megan of Denver, CO, Elizabeth Shirley & husband, Nicholas of Denver, CO, Andrew Hanauer of Denver, CO, Tisra Denise Tom of Stratford, OK, Casey & Auden Hanauer of Collierville, TN, Landen Gist of Cary, NC, and Nicholas Shirley of Denver, CO; numerous nieces, nephews & other family.
Mr. Stevens served in the Army in WWII and was a D-Day Veteran. He enlisted again in the services for the reconstruction of Germany and England.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2011, from 12-2 pm at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. The funeral service will be on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 2:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Richard Kingrea presiding.
