HARRIS, WILLIAM JAMES, 61, of Christiansburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on February 20, 2011.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Ellis and Margaret Gertrude Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Harris of Christiansburg; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Shelor of Riner; son, James Harris of Christiansburg; granddaughters, Allison and Ashley Shelor of Riner; brother and sister-in-law, Freddy and Pat Harris of Madisonville, TN; several nieces and nephews and his 4-legged companion, Fred.
Mr. Harris served in the United States Marines in Platoon 238 and fought in the Vietnam War from 1968-1969. He was employed at the Roanoke Electric Steel Mill for many years.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations would be made to the Veteran’s Administration.
The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, from 6-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at 2 pm at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
