Weldon King

KING, WELDON (JUNE), of Christiansburg, went to be with his Lord on his 80th birthday, Thursday, October 11, 2007 surrounded by his loving family at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

He was a member of St Paul United Methodist Church, Christiansburg, VA. Born in Huffville, VA to the late Iva G. Wimmer and William King, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lake and Mary and brothers, Henry, Herman, Otha and Raymond.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Donna Lois Martin King; son and wife, Carl (Wayne) and Pamela Hart King; grandson and wife, Michael (Mickey) Wayne King and Joni Way King; grandson, Jonathan (Jon) Phillip King; much loved great-grandchildren, Ashton Michael King and Peyton Ann King; a sister, Maude K. Conner and sister-in-law, Evelyn V. King. He is survived by a very special sister-in-law, Lena McAlexander and husband Archie, as well as numerous other sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is also survived by special neighbors, Lewis and Dorothy Meredith, and other special friends and neighbors. The family wishes to thank the Christiansburg Rescue Squad for their compassion and service, and the physicians and staff at Montgomery Regional Hospital for their care and many kindnesses.

The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Saturday, Oct. 13th from 4 until 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 14th, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rev. David A. Goodpasture and Rev. Brian D. Siegel officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Flowers will be appreciated, however the family would like to suggest memorials be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24068 or the Christiansburg Fire Department, 110 Depot Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
