Vera Linkous

Linkous, Vera G., 86, of Blacksburg, passed away on Friday, June 4. She was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia to William S. and Florence Lawhorne.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years 10 months, H. Lee Linkous; one daughter and son-in-law, the Reverends Barbara and Carl Early, missionaries to South Africa; two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam L. and Peggy Linkous of Belington, West Virginia, and Gary W. and Peggy Linkous of Blacksburg; two granddaughters and spouses, Melissa and Rob Sperka of Adairsville, Georgia and Jennifer and Jason Scott of McCoy; two grandsons and spouses, Darrell and Donna Early of Harper?s Ferry, West Virginia, and Mark and Brenda Early of Sumter, South Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Ciara and Benjamin Early, Skylar Scott and Chase Sperka; two sisters, Mary Matani of Boca Raton, Florida and Francis Moomaw of Staunton, Virginia; a sister-in-law and spouse, Beulah and Ervin Harrison of Christiansburg; a sister-in-law, Hazel Linkous; and many nieces and nephews.
She was retired from Virginia Tech.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at The Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. Funeral will be at the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a long-time member, at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 6, 2004 with Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. Her strong faith, good-natured spirit, and fun-loving personality inspired us all.
