Timothy Michael 'Timmy' Mills

Timothy Michael ‘Timmy’ Mills, of Christiansburg, departed this life and entered Heaven’s gates on March 10, 2019. Timmy was born on August 1, 1967 to William and Freeda Mills. He was a very well-known member of the Bluegrass music scene, playing banjo and guitar, and loved encouraging younger musicians.

Timmy was preceded in death by his dad, Bill Mills; his grandparents, Clarence and Bessie Wood and Tom and Dania Mills; as well as many other beloved relatives.

He is survived by his mother, Freeda; his sister, Amy; his brother, Jeff; and his fiancée, Neva Sales. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, C.T. and Grace Wood, Michael and Sharon Wood, Sue Wood, Hobert Mills, Luther and Willie Mae Spencer, J.D. and Trudy Worrell, Butch and Shirley Yates, and Freddie Mills; numerous cousins; and countless friends.

Timmy was a longtime member of Abundant Life Fellowship in Pilot, and was employed at Virginia Tech for 30 years. He had a great love for God, family, friends, and music. Timmy was greatly loved and will be sorely missed, but his influence will live on for a long, long time.
Visitation will be at Horne Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at Auburn Baptist Church on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
