Timothy Kirk

February 14, 1975 — May 22, 2014

Timothy Alan Kirk, of Christiansburg, left his family and many friends at 7 a.m. on Thursday morning, May 22, 2014.

Tim was born to Gordon and Janie Kirk in Manchester, CT on February 14, 1975. The family moved to Easton, PA and his sister, Andrea Kirk, was born in 1979. In 1985 the family moved to Blacksburg, VA and Timothy attended both Blacksburg Middle and High School. He was active in several things but music became his major interest at an early age. He won awards in music and was gifted in many ways. He was able to play any musical instrument he was handed. He attended Virginia Tech Engineering School but left after two years to take a job at Comprehensive Computer Solutions in Christiansburg, to support his love for music. He had bands from high school until his death and wrote, recorded, and played in several groups over the years up and down the East Coast. He was able to produce master quality CDs in the small music studio in his home on Beaver Creek near Floyd, and for the last eight months in his new basement studio in Christiansburg. His current band played in Richmond Tuesday night, May 20th. This was to be his last live stage performance.
Tim had a great love for his family and showed it in many wonderful and constant ways and he was greatly loved in return by his family and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Robley and Leona Kirk; his aunt Phyllis Kirk Stevens; grandparent Bufford Couch; and his uncle Kyle Hall. He is survived by his grandmother Pauline Couch; his parents, Gordon and Janie Kirk; sister Andrea; niece Faith Wilkins; aunt Linda Hall; uncle Hubert Kirk and aunt Barbara; his former wife Carrie Bishop; and many other cousins and family, plus the countless friends that he has made in the music field that he loved so much.

The family will receive friends at Horne Funeral Home on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 1-3 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Chapel, with Mr. Beaver Terry and Mr. Jerry Dowdy officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley, Blacksburg.
