Thomas Bibb

Dr. Thomas Lynn Bibb, loving husband, father and friend, age 69, of Riner, died suddenly Friday, March 17, 2006 in Wytheville.

He was the son of the late James B. and Mabel S. Bibb and was born August 18, 1936 in Beckley, WV. Dr. Bibb received his B.S. degree in Animal Science from Va Tech in 1958, DVM from Ohio State University in 1962 and his M.S. in Equine Reproduction from Ohio State University, Veterinary College in 1966. He was a member of the American Veterinary Association, Virginia Veterinary Association, American Association of Equine Practioners, American Association of Bovine Practioners, Virginia Academy of Food Animal Practioners (President), Academy of Veterinary Consultants, Society of Theriogenoly, Virginia Beef Cattle Association and the Virginia Horse Council. Also, he was Advisor and Veterinary Consultant for the Dublin Feeder Calf Association, was Resident Veterinarian for the Pulaski County Stock Market at Dublin, a member of the Academy of Small Animals Ruminants and served as advisor to numerous youth organizations, including the United States Pony Club, 4-H, FFA, and Sheep Club. Dr. Bibb was also a member of the Lions Club and the Presbyterian Church of Radford, where he had served as a Deacon and Elder and was a member of the Advisory Board of the First National Bank, Riner Branch. Dr. Bibb chose to honor life by being an organ donor. The family takes great comfort in knowing that other lives have benefited by his gift. Also he requested to be cremated and returned to his farm. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Susan B. Bibb; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane L. Bibb and Patrick M. Johnson; one brother and sister-in-law, James B. Bibb, Jr. and Kathy Bibb of Saline, Michigan; and one niece, Susan B. Ekkens and her family, Michigan.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2006 from the Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Christiansburg. Visitation will be Monday from 3 ? 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Riner Sub- Station Fund, P.O. Box 176, Christiansburg, 24068, to the Riner Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 11, Riner, VA 24149 or to The Conservancy, 490 Westfield Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901.
