Thelma Sowers Teel, of Riner, passed away at Lewis Gale Montgomery early on January 30, 2013. She was born on August 29, 1922.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie & Rosa Sowers; her husband, Shelor A. Teel, Jr.; a brother, D. W. Sowers; and 2 sisters, Ileta Chafin and Juanita Williams Mattson. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Martha Sowers Fleeman, and Peggy Teel Sheppard; brother-in-law, Don Teel; as well as several nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank a special caregiver, Walter Simmons.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with the family receiving visitors 1 hour prior. Mr. Dennis Curd will officiate and interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The following men are pallbearers at the funeral: Lee Teel, Gene Teel, Randall Teel, Robert Phillips, Josh Phillips, and Steven Sowers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Riner Rescue Squad, P O Box 858, Riner, VA 24149, or to the Riner Fire Department, P O Box 11, Riner, VA 24149.
