Sylvia Snyder Akers, 84, of Roanoke, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Raymond Akers, Sr.; two brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by her sons, Raymond Akers and John Akers; and a daughter, Rhonda East, all of Shawsville; grandchildren, Andrea Akers of Shawsville, Amanda & Raymond Rakes of Elliston, Kristin Akers, Cody East, Kara East, all of Shawsville; and great-grandchildren, Marissa Shires, Cali East, Levi East, and Kylor Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2012, from 10-11 am at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 am in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Wayne Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Akers Family Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff on 3 West at Richfield Retirement Community for their dedication and care given to our mother.
