Samuel Yopp

Samuel Alfred (Bill) Yopp, 88, of Shawsville, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ethel Yopp; sons, Bill Roger Yopp, Paul Yopp, and Kenny Yopp; wives, Katherine Yopp and Frankie Yopp; brothers, Buster Yopp, Harvey Yopp, and Melton Yopp, and sisters, Violet Duncan, Thelma Dove, and Blanche Hinkle. He is survived by his son, Mike Yopp and Cindy; grandson, Kenneth Yopp, Jr.; brothers, Frank Yopp and Don Yopp; sister, Dulcie Trimble; ex-wife, Deloris Moore; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
Bill served in the Army and after his honorable discharge, worked as an aide in the psychiatric ward at the VA Hospital in Salem, retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Buck Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
