Samuel Eugene Hungate, Sr. (Pooch Hungate), departed this life on February 14, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Hungate & Verna Hungate; a brother, Nelson Hungate; and his wife, Betty W. Hungate.
He is survived by his 2 sons, Samuel E. Hungate, Jr. and Steven E. Hungate; daughter, Patricia W. Moore & husband Timmy; sister, Phyllis H. Elliot; his heart and fiancée, Barbara Rader of Dublin. Pooch is also survived by 8 grandchildren, T.J. Sheppard, Michelle Sheppard, Steven Dunford, Jordan W. Starks, Austin Hungate, Kayla R. Hungate, Ciara Hungate, Shiane Hungate, and Gage Akers; 3 great-grandchildren; 1 niece; 2 nephews; and his countless friends around the music scene and all over the state. We all love you and miss you.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from 4-6 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 4th at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in McCoy Family Cemetery, McCoy, VA.
