Ruth Ann Wood Harrah, 85, of Christiansburg, VA and formerly of Daniels, WV, entered through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, VA.
Mrs. Harrah was born on September 2, 1927 in Stotesbury, WV and resided at Wheatland Hills Retirement Center in Christiansburg, VA. She is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Harrah; her parents, Dennis Wood and Russie Crews Wood; her brother Edsel Crews Wood; and special niece Becky Wood.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis Floyd Wood, II and Elizabeth Wood of Cary, NC; a sister-in-law, Gledis Wood of Beckley, WV; three nephews, Dennis F. Wood, III, Stephen Edward Wood, and Edsel Carl Wood; special friends Loretta Stewart Grubb, Joseph and Teresa Chapman, as well as many friends at Wheatland Retirement Center in Christiansburg, VA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 27, 2012 from 9:00 until 11:00 am at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Pastor Porter Riner officiating. Interment will follow at 2:30 pm in Blue Ridge Memory Gardens in Beckley WV.
