Ruby Ellen Clarkson
July 27, 1922 — April 17, 2015
Ruby Ellen Clarkson, 92, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord on April 17th, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Fred Clarkson; daughter, Ellen Mowbray; and son, John Clarkson. She is survived by daughters, Linda Rice and Diane Clarkson; sons-in-law, James Rice and Harold Mowbray; and granddaughter, Kristen Rice.
Ruby, born in WV to Austrian immigrant John and Emma Ferrari, served in the Marine Corps in WW II where she met her husband. As a faithful follower of Christ she taught Bible classes for many years, participated in mission trips to Uganda, and helped plant Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She and Fred brought the 1st mini-warehouse and quick oil change businesses to the NRV. Ruby fully invested herself in family, friendships and enjoying life—including a hot air balloon ride for her 90th birthday. She was a treasure! She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial Service will be held on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 12 noon at GraceLife Baptist Church, with visitation following.
