Roxie Mae Akers
August 11, 1917 — December 27, 2014
Roxie Reed Akers, 97, of Christiansburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curgless G. Akers; and sons, Harold G. Akers and Donald W. Akers. Roxie is survived by her children, James Akers and wife, Sarah, Lewis Akers and wife, Bea, Sam Akers and wife, Pearl, Kathy Akers, and Bonnie Akers Katz; as well as a large number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Roxie was a faithful member of the Bible Baptist Church and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. We will all miss her.
The family would like to thank the staff of Radford Health and Rehab for their care of Roxie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, from 10-11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Dusty Etter and Pastor Kenneth Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Roxie’s memory to Bible Baptist Church, 701 Church St., Christiansburg, VA 24073.
