Ronnie Joe Hawkins, 51, of Christiansburg, passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera R. Hawkins. Ronnie is survived by his dad, Wm. R. (Ronnie) Hawkins; his sister, Nancy Ann Hawkins Simutis; as well as other extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank the Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Department members for their extremely fast response and expertise in putting out the fire, thereby protecting other homes and families close to Ronnie’s home. Along with the Fire Department, a special thank you to the Christiansburg Police Department for their professionalism and kindess, especially Lt. Chris Heidt. Also, thank you to Ronnie’s neighbors for their heroism shown in pulling Ronnie out of his burning home. All of these individuals and departments went above and beyond the call of duty and acts of kindness.
The graveside service will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Copeland and Rev. Doug Kanney.
