Williams, Robert Eugene, (Bobby) age 79, of Christiansburg, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at LewisGale Montgomery Hospital.
A graduate of Christiansburg High School, he served in the U.S. Army in Japan from 1952 til 1954. An employee of the US Postal Service he worked in the Blacksburg Post Office for over thirty years. He was a member of St Paul United Methodist Church.
Son of the late Joe W and Mattie Stump Williams he was preceded in death by brother, Fred Lee Williams, sisters-in-law, Ruby R. Willard, Oneada Roop and Betty R. Weeks; brother-in-law, Raymond L. Willard; nephew, Pfc Leon David Willard; his best friend and faithful wife Joyce Roop Williams.
Surviving are his daughter, Sue W. Price and special friend, Jerry Trump, Christiansburg; grandchildren, Kirstin P Bonney and husband, David, Frostburg, MD; Jacob Price and wife, Lori, Roanoke; great grandchildren, Galen, Aydin, Shye and Willow Bonney, Frostburg, MD, Victoria Price, Roanoke; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Dennis Brown, Mechanicsville, VA; sister-in-law, Mary Frances Williams, Pulaski; brother-in-law, John D. Weeks, Oxford, OH; four special daughters, Martha Spencer, Bobbie Lemley, Christiansburg, Lisa Lafoon, Rustburg, VA, Barbara Simpson, St Jose, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews and many special friends.
The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff and friends at Country Kitchen, Dr. Scott Boerth, Dr. Don Bivins and Good Samaritan Hospice of NRV.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Nov. 14, from 5 until 8 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 15 at St Paul United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Neal Turner and Rev. Doug Kanney. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Detention Home Ministries c/o St Paul United Methodist Church, 220 West Main Street, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
